Spikers to face Sandwich in Coal City Regional

COAL CITY – The Mendota Spikers are the 11th seed in the Coal City Class 2A Regional Volleyball Tournament to be played Oct. 28, 29, 31.

The Spikers will open up regional action at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28 when they take on eighth-seeded Sandwich. Mendota defeated Sandwich in a September match. The winner of the Mendota-Sandwich contest will advance to the semifinals to face top-seeded Seneca on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. The other semifinal match will pit Coal City against Hall.

The semifinal-round winners will move on to the regional championship on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m.

The champion of the Coal City Regional will advance to the Bureau Valley Sectional to square off against the winner of the Sterling Newman Regional at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. The other sectional participants will come from the Orion and Minonk Fieldcrest regionals.

Match 1 – (8) Sandwich vs. (11) Mendota – 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 29

Match 2 – (1) Seneca vs. Winner Match 1 – 6 p.m.

Match 3 – (4) Coal City vs. (7) Spring Valley (Hall) – 7 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 31

Match 4 – Winner Match 2 vs. Winner Match 3 – 6 p.m.
