SPRINGFIELD – Hunters in Illinois harvested a statewide total of 803 wild turkeys during the 2023-2024 fall archery turkey season.

MENDOTA – Mark Cooper had a legendary career while playing basketball at Mendota High School in the mid-1980s. Now, Cooper can add a legendary coaching career to his resume.

MENDOTA – The Illinois Valley Volleyball Officials Association (IVVOA) is hosting an IHSA Level 1 and Level 2 Volleyball Officials Clinic from noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25 at Mendota High School, located at 2300 W. Main St.

NEWARK – The Mendota Lady Trojans closed out the regular season with a 60-27 loss at Newark on Feb. 8.
BYRON - The wrestling season came to an end for three Mendota High School grapplers after they competed in the Byron Class 1A Sectional on Feb. 9-10.
The Mendota sophomore boys’ basketball team is the Three Rivers Conference champion after rolling up four more victories to run its winning streak to 11.

SANDWICH – Three Mendota wrestlers extended their season by at least another week after the Trojans participated in the Sandwich Class 1A Regional Wrestling Tournament on Feb. 3.
Four wins by the Mendota sophomore boys’ basketball team, including three in the Three Rivers Conference, propelled the Trojans to first place in the league after the smoke cleared during a busy week on the hardwood.
