Trojan bowlers grab first place in 12-team tournament

SAVOY – Mendota’s boys’ and girls’ bowling teams competed in the Brian Hodge Memorial Tournament on Jan. 6 at Savoy. Hoopeston High School was the host team.

The MHS boys took first place out of 12 teams with an overall score of 5723. Three Trojan bowlers finished with the top five individual scores, including Landon Bauer, who was the overall champion with a 1266 series. BJ Bresley finished in fourth place with an 1171 series, while Alex Holland was fifth with an 1157 series.

Lady Trojan bowlers Brisa Nunez and Lauren Holland teamed up with host Hoopeston and finished in second place overall in the girls’ division out of eight schools. Lauren Holland finished ninth in the individual standings.
