Carlos, Elam take firsts in Ferris Invite

PRINCETON – Mendota went up against four other teams in the Princeton Ferris Invitational on April 15 at Princeton.

The Mendota boys finished fourth in the team standings with 150 points. Rock Falls took top honors with 284 points.

The Trojans had one first-place finish, that going to Sebastian Carlos in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.09.

Anthony Kelson grabbed second place in the 300-meter hurdles in 44.7.

Mendota’s girls also were fourth in the team standings with 114 points. Princeton claimed the overall title with 239 points.

The Lady Trojans recorded a pair of first-place finishes, both by Mariyah Elam. She captured the high jump with an effort of 4-11.75 and sailed to first in the triple jump with a measurement of 34-1.75.
