Only one goal was scored and fortunately it was Mendota that scored it in a 1-0 triumph over Princeton in varsity girls’ soccer play on April 9 at the MHS field.
Noemi Arteaga tallied the goal for the Lady Trojans off an assist by Addy Allensworth.

Mendota took second place in the Genoa-Kingston Tournament on April 13.
The Lady Trojans began the action with a 2-0 triumph over Pecatonica. Crystal Garcia and Arteaga scored the goals for MHS.
Mendota defeated Rockford Christian, 5-1, in the second game behind four goals from Garcia. Elaina Reddin had the other score for the Lady Trojans, while Arteaga collected two assists and Linnea Escatel had one.
Mendota met Genoa-Kingston in the championship game that was 0-0 at the end of regulation, but won by the host school in a penalty kick shootout.
Garcia and Arteaga were selected to the all-tournament team for Mendota, which has an 8-5 record.
