LaSALLE – The Mendota varsity golf team advanced to the sectional round after finishing in third place in the LaSalle-Peru Class 2A Regional Golf Tournament on Oct. 2 at Senica’s Oak Ridge in LaSalle.

MAPLE PARK – The Mendota High School golf season came to an end at the Maple Park Kaneland Class 2A Sectional on Oct. 7. The Trojans finished 11th in the team standings with a score of 348 and also did not have an individual state qualifier.

Despite missing three starters because of injury, the Mendota varsity boys’ soccer team still managed to easily handle Dixon, 9-2, on Oct. 1 at Dixon.

SERENA – The Mendota boys’ soccer team has earned the top seed in the Serena Class 1A Regional Soccer Tournament.

MENDOTA – Kewanee did all the scoring in a 25-0 victory over Mendota in freshman-sophomore football action on Oct. 7 at the MHS field.

The Mendota cross country runners participated in the Three Rivers Conference Championship on Oct. 1 at Monmouth.

The Mendota Spikers split a pair of Three Rivers Conference matches and dropped a nonconference contest last week.

MENDOTA - Kewanee’s Alejandro Duarte is an all-state wrestler. He looked like an all-world running back against Mendota.

Mendota had an easy time in disposing of Princeton, 9-0, in varsity boys’ soccer action on Sept. 24 at the MHS field.

Mendota beat out two conference opponents in a golf triangular on Sept. 24 at the Mendota Golf Club.

MENDOTA – Cross country teams from Spring Valley, Princeton, and Amboy joined host school Mendota for a race Sept. 25 at Lake Mendota.

Indian Creek posted a 25-21, 25-23 win over Mendota in varsity volleyball action on Sept. 23 at Shabbona.

MENDOTA - Three minutes on the clock and 52 yards on the field was all that stood between Mendota and its first football win of the season. One more defensive stand and the Trojans would be celebrating a Homecoming game victory.

Mendota’s freshmen golfers participated in the Three Rivers Conference Freshman Invitational on Sept. 16 at Kewanee. No team scores were kept.

Mendota dispatched Somonauk, 8-1, in varsity boys’ soccer action on Sept. 21 at Somonauk.

Mendota High School was in action against seven other area teams in a cross country meet at LaSalle-Peru on Sept. 17.

Northbrook Middle School competed in two cross country meets last week.

MENDOTA - When Monmouth-Roseville scored a touchdown in the first 21 seconds of the game, you could sense it was going to make its two-hour plus bus ride to Mendota worthwhile.

DIXON – Dixon shut out the Mendota varsity girls’ tennis team, 5-0, on Sept. 17 at Dixon.

Hall scored all of its points in the second half to defeat Mendota, 28-0, in freshman-sophomore football action on Sept. 16 at the MHS field.

MENDOTA – A solid Erie-Prophetstown squad took out the Mendota Spikers, 25-17, 25-16 in Three Rivers Conference volleyball action on Sept. 17 at the MHS gym.

SAVOY – Mendota’s boys’ and girls’ bowling teams competed in the Brian Hodge Memorial Tournament on Jan. 6 at Savoy.

It was a rough weekend for the Mendota varsity boys’ basketball team as it was beaten by area rivals Princeton and LaSalle-Peru.
