OGLESBY – Fifty-four IVCC athletes were recognized for academic excellence in the Arrowhead Conference. 

EARLVILLE – The Little Ten Conference baseball coaches have selected the 2024 Little Ten All-Conference Baseball Team. 

MENDOTA – The Mendota Quarterback Club will be sponsoring a fund-raising event Friday, June 14, at the Mendota Golf Club.

CHARLESTON – Mendota track team member Sebastian Carlos competed in the IHSA State Track & Field Championships held May 23-25 at Eastern Illinois University.

The Mendota boys’ tennis team concluded the regular season with a 3-2 loss to Sterling Newman on May 14 at Sterling.

EAST PEORIA – Two Northbrook Middle School athletes brought home medals from the IESA State Track & Field Meet held May 17-18 in East Peoria.

STERLING – Mendota closed out the baseball season with an 11-1 setback to Sterling Newman in the semifinals of the Sterling Newman Class 2A Regional on May 16.

SYCAMORE – One Mendota track athlete qualified for the state track & field meet after the Trojans participated in the Sycamore Class 2A Sectional on May 16.

CHARLESTON – Mariyah Elam has gone to new heights in a year. Literally.

SAVOY – Mendota’s boys’ and girls’ bowling teams competed in the Brian Hodge Memorial Tournament on Jan. 6 at Savoy.

It was a rough weekend for the Mendota varsity boys’ basketball team as it was beaten by area rivals Princeton and LaSalle-Peru.

MENDOTA – Mendota had trouble shooting the basketball and Bureau Valley did not, which resulted in a lopsided 59-17 win for the Storm in Three Rivers Conference varsity girls’ basketball action on Jan. 4 at the MHS gym.

Princeton used a strong fourth quarter to claim a 49-40 victory over Mendota in a Three Rivers Conference sophomore boys’ basketball game on Jan. 5 at the Mendota gym.

AMBOY – Mendota wrestlers participated in the Amboy Junior Varsity Tournament on Jan. 6.

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) will host two public meetings in Lee and Bureau counties to provide information about the recent detection of chronic wasting disease, its effect on free-ranging deer populations, and IDNR’s efforts to control the disease.

AMBOY – The Mendota Lady Trojans competed in the Amboy Holiday Tournament held Dec. 26-29. The squad finished in fourth place.

PLANO – The Mendota Trojans finished in 13th place in the Plano Christmas Classic held Dec. 27-30.

PLANO – The Mendota junior varsity boys’ basketball team finished in eighth place in the 16-team Plano Junior Varsity Christmas Classic.

MENDOTA – When contestants of the Mendota Sweet Corn Pageant are getting ready for the annual event, they are usually waiting for the summer to get over so they can go to college or are working shifts around their pageant schedule.

BLOOMINGTON – Illinois High School Association (IHSA) member schools approved 12 of 14 amendment proposals that appeared on the all-school ballot during the annual by-law referendum process that ended on Dec. 19, 2023.
