Trojans chalk up two more soccer wins

Despite missing three starters because of injury, the Mendota varsity boys’ soccer team still managed to easily handle Dixon, 9-2, on Oct. 1 at Dixon.

Sebastian Carlos and Johan Cortez paced the Trojan attack with four and three goals, respectively. The other goals were scored by Cesar Casas and Sam Matura.

Cortez assisted on two of the goals, while Carlos and Aaron Venegas had one assist apiece.

Mendota cruised to a 9-0 triumph over Earlville on Oct. 5 at the MHS field. The Trojans led 7-0 in the half.

Isaac Diaz led the way with three goals and two assists. Adding one goal apiece were Cortez, Carlos, Danny Garcia, David Casas, Cesar Casas and Luis Ramirez.

Cesar Casas picked up a pair of assists, while Ramiro Palacios, Mauricio Salinas, Mauricio Martinez and Cortez each had one assist.

The Trojans improved their record to 17-1-1.
