Mendota turned a close game at halftime into a 5-0 rout over Oregon in varsity boys’ soccer action on Aug. 29 at Oregon.
Luis Delao got the Trojans on the board with a goal assisted by Joel Escatel at the 4:06 mark of the first half and the scored remained that way as the teams gathered for their pow wow at intermission.
But Mendota busted things open in the second half with four goals to win going away. Finding the net were Eddie Perez twice, Ivan Figueroa and Emiliano Arteaga. Arteaga also had a pair of assists.
Joel Figueroa was in goal for Mendota and posted the shutout.

The Trojans machine kept rolling with a 6-0 whitewash of North Boone on Aug. 30 at Poplar Grove.
Escatel tallied a pair of first-half goals and Mendota carried a 2-0 lead to the break.
Mendota busted the game open in the second session with four goals within a span of about 12 minutes. Yahir Diaz got things started, and then Arteaga got in on the act off an assist from Escatel.
Ivan Figueroa and Tyler Preston capped off the scoring for the Trojans.
Joel Figueroa chalked up another shutout in goal.
