OREGON - The Mendota Lady Trojans saw their softball season come to a close after a hard-fought 3-2 loss to St. Bede in the championship game of the Oregon Class 2A Sectional on May 26.
The Lady Trojans fell behind 2-0 in the top of the first and the scored stayed that way until the sixth when St. Bede pushed across another run to make it 3-0.
Mendota entered the bottom of the seventh without a hit when it got a pair of singles, including an RBI single by Emma Boatman, to make it 3-2, but St. Bede pitcher Abbie May managed to get a pop out for the final out. May struck out 18 batters, including the first nine of the game.
The Lady Trojans ended the season with a 21-10 record.
