The Mendota Lady Trojans’ tennis team opened the season with a 4-1 loss to Dixon on Aug. 22 at the MHS courts.
Mendota’s lone victory came from the No. 3 doubles team of Emma Boatman and Paityn Barkman, 6-4, 6-0.

Mendota traveled to Sterling on Aug. 24 to take on Newman and the home team posted a 5-0 victory over the Lady Trojans.

Mendota’s varsity and junior varsity squads competed in the Newman Invitational on Aug. 26 at Sterling.
The varsity squad finished in sixth place out of eight teams with 13 points. Bloomington Central Catholic was the team champion with 31 points.
Iris Espinoza took fifth place at No. 1 singles for Mendota’s top finish in the tournament. Marie Barnickel finished sixth at No. 2 singles.
In doubles action, Leslee Thorson and Grace Brandner teamed up at No. 1 singles and finished sixth, while the No. 2 team of Natalie Landgraf and Emma Guelde was seventh.
