GENOA – The Mendota boys’ track team finished in eighth place in the Big Northern Conference meet on May 10 at Genoa-Kingston.
The Trojans scored 21 points, landing ahead of North Boone (18), Rockford Lutheran (10) and Stillman Valley (2). Dixon rolled to the team championship with 167.33 points. Rockford Christian was Dixon’s closest competitor with 120 points. The rest of the standings included Rock Falls with 79.33 points, Oregon with 53, Byron with 36, Genoa-Kingston with 29 and Winnebago with 22.33.
Eli Otterbach had Mendota’s best finish on the day, winning the high jump with a height of 5-9.1.
Eddy Sandoval placed in three individual events. His highest finish came in the 400-meter dash where he took third place with a time of 52.31.
