MHS track teams compete in triangular

ROCK FALLS – Mendota’s track teams went up against two other schools in a triangular meet at Rock Falls on April 13.

The Lady Trojans finished second in the team standings with 38 points, while Rock Falls ran away with the meet with 84 points. Fulton checked in last with 36 points.

Mendota had three first-place finishes. Mari Biers claimed the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.32, while Abby Phalen easily outdistanced the competition in the triple jump with a distance of 32-6. Lauren Schimmer won the high jump with a leap of 5-0.

Rock Falls also won the boys’ meet with 91 points, followed by Fulton (47) and Mendota (33).

The Trojans picked up three first-place finishes. Jonathan Patino crossed the finish line ahead of the pack in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.41. Eli Otterbach was two inches better than his opponents in winning the high jump with a measurement of 5-8, while Austin Lipe captured the triple jump with a distance of 37-10.5.
