MENDOTA – The Mendota Lady Trojans picked a bad time to have their worst offensive game of the season.
A frigid shooting performance enhanced by a relentless Dixon defense led to the downfall of the Lady Trojans as they were knocked out of the post season in their first game, 34-20, by the Duchesses in the Mendota Class 3A Regional on Feb. 13 at the MHS gym. The 20 points was a season low for Mendota, which closed the year with an 18-9 record.
Amellia Bromenschenkel’s eight points paced Mendota. It was the only time this season she did not reach double figures in scoring. Phalen Hessenberger added six points and led with six rebounds.
The Lady Trojans connected on just 20 percent of their field goal attempts (9 of 44) and 50 percent of their free throws. They had 18 total rebounds.
