Mendota’s girls’ soccer team grinded out a 3-1 victory over Winnebago on May 4 at Winnebago. The home team came into the contest undefeated on the season.
The Lady Trojans got goals from Nataliya Stewart, Daisy Arteaga and Isabella Tolentino, while Arteaga and Tanya Rosas had assists.
Eli Avila had seven saves in goal.

Mendota posted a 3-0 shutout win over Ottawa on May 5 at the MHS field.
Arteaga, Tolentino and Perla Lopez booted home goals for the Lady Trojans. Rosas picked up an assist.
Avila pitched the shutout for Mendota with six saves.

Rockford Lutheran nipped the Lady Trojans, 2-1, on May 8 at Rockford.
All of the scoring was done in the second half. The Crusaders got on the board first with 28 minutes left in the game and then Mendota answered with a goal by Rosas off an assist by Arteaga with 17 minutes to go. Six minutes later, Lutheran broke the tie and that’s how the game ended.
Mendota has a 3-4 record on the season.
