OTTAWA – Two Mendota Trojan golfers were able to extend their season after participating in the Ottawa Class 2A Regional Golf Tournament on Sept. 29 at Deer Park Country Club in Oglesby.
Both Mendota golfers finished among the top 10 best scoring players who were not on a qualifying team. MHS’s Ethan Hanaman had the low score among those top 10 players and was sixth overall with a 76. Teammate Owen Aughenbaugh also made it out of the regional round by shooting an 85 and finishing in sixth place among the 10 players not on a qualifying team.
The overall meet medalist was Drake Kaufman of Ottawa with a 71. He led the Pirates to the regional team title with a score of 299. Ottawa, LaSalle-Peru (315) and Dixon (318) all advanced their team to the sectional round. The rest of the team standings were Stillman Valley (332), Mendota (342), Streator (345), Freeport (349), Sterling (358) and Rock Falls (429).
Four Trojan golfers saw their season come to an end. They were Drake Dennis (90), Logan Brandner (91), Dominik Stamberger (92) and Clay Buffington (93).
