MENDOTA – The Mendota Spikers are off to a fast start with a pair of victories to open the 2021 spring campaign.
Mendota began the season with a 25-22, 25-20 decision over Rockford Christian in a Big Northern Conference match on March 18 at the MHS gym.
Ella Massey sparked the offense with three kills and 14 assists. Paige Manning and Jaelyn Fitzgerald each had three kills, while Madi Mikolasek delivered three ace serves and Jenna O’Donnell picked up 13 digs. Massey, Manning and Elly Buettner added eight digs apiece.

The Spikers took down Putnam County, 25-10, 25-19, in nonconference action on March 20 at the MHS gym.
Fitzgerald was a force at the net for Mendota with eight kills and two solo blocks. Bailey Baird and Reanna Brant posted five kills apiece, while O’Donnell recorded 12 digs and Massey totaled 22 assists.
