Sterling Newman proved to be too strong for Mendota in a 25-19, 25-10 win over the Spikers in Three Rivers Conference volleyball action on Sept. 14 at Sterling.

Reanna Brant and Maya Martin were credited with two kills apiece, while Lauren Martin, Kya Delao and Katie Jenner supplied two assists apiece. Lauren Martin led in digs with 11 and Jenner recorded three ace serves.

Mendota and Sandwich took it to the limit before the Spikers prevailed, 25-18, 13-25, 25-19, in a nonconference battle on Sept. 15 at Sandwich.

Pacing the net attack were Brant with five kills and Meredith McConville and Paige Manning with four kills each. Delao set up the offense with 11 assists, while Lauren Martin and Elly Buettner collected four and three ace serves, respectively. Providing a strong defensive effort were Marah Setchell and McConville with four blocks apiece and Lauren Martin with 14 digs. Brant added three blocks and Buettner helped out with eight digs.

The Spikers are 10-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
