Kewanee picked up a 36-26 triumph over Mendota in sophomore boys’ basketball action on Feb. 8 at the MHS gym.
Kewanee doubled up the score on the Trojans at the half, 20-10, and was able to wrap up the game with a double-digit margin.
Mason Koch had eight points to lead Mendota scorers, while teammate Cameron Kelly added five markers.

Mendota was a 36-24 winner over Newman on Feb. 11 at Sterling.
The Trojans held a slim 25-22 lead after three quarters and then held Newman to just a single bucket in the fourth to pull away for the victory.
Owen Aughenbaugh dropped in eight points to pace the Trojans and Dane Hiner chipped in with six tallies.

A tight game throughout ended up going in Mendota’s favor over Newark, 36-34, on Feb. 12 at the MHS gym.
The seesaw battle saw the Trojans trailing 19-17 at the half and then going on top 29-27 heading to the fourth frame.
Kelly led a balanced Mendota scoring attack with eight points, followed by Jace Baird with seven and Logan Dewey with six.
