MENDOTA – The Mendota varsity boys’ basketball team fell to North Boone, 47-36, in the regular season finale on March 3 at the MHS gym.
After beating North Boone in a non-conference season-opener in early February, the Trojans dropped 10 straight Big Northern Conference games to conclude the regular season at 1-10 overall and 0-10 in the conference.
The Trojans owned a 9-6 lead after the first quarter, but things went downhill from there. North Boone recovered to take a 22-14 halftime lead and the Vikings held a 34-20 margin with just one quarter left to play. Mendota heated up its offense in the fourth frame by scoring 16 points, but it wasn’t nearly enough.
Krew Bond had 19 points and Rafa Romero contributed 10 for the Trojans.
