OREGON – Mendota’s cross country runners joined 29 Northern Illinois teams for the Oregon Open on Sept. 7.
The top time in the boys’ varsity 5K race went to Nicolai Martino of Winnebago. Mendota’s Anthony Kelson medaled at 14th place in a time of 17:00. He was joined by fellow Trojans Carlos Toribio (20:04), Spencer Kain (21:54), Hector Gonzalez (23:01), Travis Mumm (25:27), and Aiden Fisher (25:33). Additionally, in the JV race Ryder Woods posted a time of 21:16 and Gage Richey finished in 28:06.
The top finisher in the girls’ varsity open went to Ariel Hernandez of Rock Falls (19:19). Mendota was represented by Emily Banks (29:49), Anna Valdes (32:23), and Payton Stavropoulos (34:46). The lone female for Mendota in the JV race was Fernanda Valdes (33:49).
