Goy's first ace

MENDOTA – Mendota native Patrick Goy has been playing golf since he was 10 years old - 23 years ago. Although he wouldn’t have minded a career milestone like the first hole-in-one to come earlier, he isn’t complaining about the forever memory he created Sept. 2 (Labor Day) when he hit a hole-in-one on Hole No. 7 (120 yards) with a pitching wedge at Mendota Golf Club. “It was a very cool moment,” Goy said. “My first hole-in-one was when I was playing with some good buddies. We saw the ball go in the hole and shared plenty of high fives. Just a great day overall.” Witnesses were Reid Politsch, Kevin McPheeters, Gary Barrera, and Miguel Bermudez. (Photo contributed)
