DeKALB – Mendota saw its golf season come to a close in the Sycamore Class 2A Sectional on Oct. 4 at Kishwaukee Country Club in DeKalb.

Ethan Hanaman finished the 18-hole round with an 83, while teammate Owen Aughenbaugh carded an 89. The cut-off for advancement to the state tournament was a 79.

“I’m very proud of the effort from my two guys today,” said MHS coach David Ross. “They played a tough course with a very talented field and put up very respectable numbers. Congratulations on making it this far and congrats to Ethan on a great career.”

Cooper Watt of Rockford Boylan was the individual medalist with a 71.

The top three teams in the sectional, all of which will advance to the state tournament, were Crystal Lake Central (307), Ottawa (314) and Rockford Boylan (319).
