WALNUT – The Mendota cross country runners competed in the Bureau Valley Invitational on Sept. 18 at Walnut.
The Trojans had two boys participate in the varsity race. Alex Hermosillo finished in 27th place with a time of 18:06.6 and Andrew Stamberger was 60th in 19:16.4.
Mason Stoeger of Minonk Fieldcrest was the overall champion in a time of 15:39.8.
Sandwich was the top team in the event with 95 points, while the rest of top five consisted of Sterling Newman (97), Elmwood (110), Amboy (112) and Rock Falls (149). There were 15 full teams in the meet.
Three Trojans ran in the boys’ freshman-sophomore competition. Anthony Kelson took fifth place in a time of 15:05, while Dagen Setchell (29th, 16:39.6) and Travis Mumm (63rd, 19:46.2) also participated.
Joey Bosch of Princeville won the race in 14:38.4, while Erie claimed the team title.
