MENDOTA – Seven Mendota Trojan soccer players were recognized with Big Northern Conference all-conference honors for the 2021 spring season.
Two Trojans were unanimous first-team selections. MHS junior Yahir Diaz was chosen to the first team as was sophomore teammate Rafael Romero. Diaz led the Trojans this season with 20 goals and 11 assists.
Three MHS players were second-team selections. They included junior Josue Arteaga and sophomores Ricky Orozco and Johnathan Cortez.
Garnering honorable mention all-conference honors were junior goalkeeper Manny Trejo and junior Alex Mandujano.
Also, Diaz was chosen as an Illinois NHSSCA All-Sectional player and Arteaga was voted as an Illinois NHSSCA All Sectional honorable mention player.
