Mendota needed just two sets to take out Genoa-Kingston, 25-16, 25-23, in a Big Northern Conference battle on Oct. 17 at Genoa.
The Spikers got seven kills and six service points from Myah Boelk. Reiss Buettner led the attack with nine service points, while Alex Barrera collected nine digs and Abby Phalen added eight. Phalen and Peyton Baird each had four blocks.

The Spikers closed out the regular season with three straight conference wins after a 25-21, 25-18 triumph over North Boone on Oct. 19 at the MHS gym.
Phalen had an all-around performance with six kills, six service points and two blocks. Brandy Delao paced the squad with eight service points and she added six digs. Also, Jaelyn Fitzgerald led with nine kills, Brittany Menzel had 14 assists, Barrera posted eight digs, Buettner had 11 assists and Boelk totaled six digs.
The Spikers concluded the Big Northern season with a 3-7 record.
