Dixon races past MHS track teams

MENDOTA – Mendota and Dixon hooked up in a dual co-ed track meet and the visiting team dominated the action in both boys’ and girls’ competition on April 24 at the MHS track.

In the girls’ meet, Dixon piled up 117.5 points compared to 26.5 for the Lady Trojans. Mendota took first-place honors in four events. Individual firsts went to Abby Phalen in the high jump (4-10), Devin Wade in the pole vault (6-8) and Teghan Tillman in the long jump (15-11). Also finishing first was the 4x100-meter relay team of Tillman, Phalen Hessenberger, Phalen and Morgan Gonda in a time of 55.56.

Dixon claimed the boys’ meet, 123-21. Mendota’s two first-place finishes went to Jose Sandoval in the 3200-meter run (12:15) and Eli Otterbach in the high jump (5-6).
