MENDOTA – Keith Stuart Althaus, 81, of Mendota, was called to his eternal home on Sept. 28, 2024.

A visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, at Horner-Merritt Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Mendota. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m.

He was born Dec. 6, 1942, in Mendota.

Keith was the loving father of Carmen Black and Dawn McInnis, beloved brother of Deb Drypolcher, and cherished grandfather of Josiah Black, Makayla Cooper, Ryan McInnis, and Aaron McInnis. He also leaves behind his ex-wife Barb Worton, sons-in-law David Black and Tom McInnis, and brother-in-law Bernie Engels. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Keith was predeceased by his parents, Stuart and Etta Mae Althaus, his sisters Vicki Engles and Kaye Lindberg, and brothers-in-law Craig Lindberg and Peter Drypolcher.

An adventurous spirit, Keith was a man who wore many hats throughout his life. He served his country in the US Air Force in Great Falls, Mont. Keith had several different jobs including a heavy equipment operator to a firefighter. He also worked in farming, trucking, trail guiding, and a train wreck clean-up crew. His zest for life was evident in his work, which spanned construction-pipeline, farming, and trucking. Even in his retirement, Keith's adventurous spirit never waned.

Keith was a generous soul, always ready to lend a hand or share what he had with others. His faith was the guiding light of his life, reflecting his generous heart. He resided in Mendota, where he was a familiar and beloved figure.
