MADISON, Wis. – Joanne Woelfel Wacker, 97, of Madison, Wis., passed away on July 24, 2024, after a brief illness.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the First Presbyterian Church, Mendota.

Joanne was born on May 6, 1927, in Peru, the daughter of Marjorie Roberts Woelfel and Everett Albert Woelfel. She was a graduate of LaSalle- Peru High School and Grinnell College. Joanne married Dr. John Frank Wacker on Oct. 21, 1950, at the First Congregational Church in Peru.

She is survived by her children, Martha (Craig Kugisaki) Wacker, Carl (Paula Pachiarz) Wacker, Mary (Mark) Widmer, and Sarah ( Tom) Nordberg; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She and John moved to Mendota in 1951, where she lived until her move to Madison in February 2023. Joanne was a life-long volunteer for many causes, a 70-plus year member of the Mendota First Presbyterian Church, and an active member of the Mendota PEO chapter.

Hers was a life well lived, and she will be dearly missed.
