PERU – Jerry L. Reger, 83, of Peru, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at Stonecroft Village, Mendota.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, at the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru. Burial will be private at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born Dec. 30, 1940, in Milan, Mo., to Kenneth and Imogene (Chapman) Reger. He married Doris "Jean" Farmer on May 20, 1960, in Earlville.

He is survived by his son, Kevin (Linda) Reger of Tinley Park; his daughter, Rosemary Reger of Peru; four grandchildren, Christopher (Rachel) Reger, Jennifer Reger, Caitlyn (Alex) Logan, and Claire Reger; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Benjamin, and Ellie; two brothers, Kenneth (Janet) Reger and Ronald (Sandy) Reger, both of Mendota; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris "Jean" on Aug. 26, 2019; and his sister, Judy Stremlau.

He worked as a foreman at HCC in Mendota. Jerry and Jean enjoyed flipping houses and together they also owned and operated the Country Ranch Banquet Hall. They retired after more than 13 years of ownership. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a "jack-of-all-trades." Jerry loved to play poker and will be remembered for telling "Jerry Jokes."
