MENDOTA – Dorothy E. Becker, 93, of Mendota passed away Sept. 11, 2024, in Arlington Heights, surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 16 from noon until 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Mendota. Services will begin at 1 p.m. with Rev. Laurie Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Troy Grove Cemetery. Wasmer Funeral Home is privileged to assist the family.

Dorothy was born Feb. 5, 1931, in Triumph, to Bert and Olive (Foster) Stevenson. She graduated Mendota High School in 1949. On June 26, 1949, she married the love of her life, Robert J. Becker Sr., at the First Presbyterian Church.

Dorothy will be forever missed by her three daughters ,Susan (Kevin) Kilanowski of Mendota, Kathleen (Lou) Avvisati of Arlington Heights, Karen (Matthew) Nordman of Arlington Heights; nine grandchildren, Luca and Olivia Avvisati, Robert Becker, Jennifer Weber, Jacob Nordman and Luke Nordman, and Allison Witte-Booth, Joel Witte and Joshua Witte; and 12 great grandchildren; Dylan Witte, Jackson Witte, Ryn Booth, Mei Booth, Zoe Becker, Eva Becker, and Zack Becker, Karliann Miars, Korinne Miars and Kara Miars, Karissa Weber and Becker Nordman; and former in-laws, Janet Henry and Ralph Witte.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Sr.; sons, John on Nov. 21, 1981, and Robert Jr. on Dec. 6, 2009; three brothers, “Sonny” Ray Stevenson, Wayne Stevenson, Bill Stevenson; and four sisters, Ruth Johnson, Ethel Happ, Evelyn Becker, and Myrna Stevens.

Dorothy enjoyed caring for others and was a CNA at the Mendota Lutheran Home. She loved all kinds of flowers and gardening. Her church was central in her life, and she was a devoted and lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mendota. Dorothy was the family historian and kept all relevant genealogy. She was an accomplished seamstress making prom and homecoming dresses, and bride and bridal party attire. Dorothy was a wonderful mother and grandmother and her family was the most important part of her life.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Luca Avvisati, Robert Becker, Jacob Nordman, Luke Nordman, Joel Witte and Joshua Witte.
