MENDOTA - E. Louise Ambler, 95, of Mendota passed away March 12, 2019 at Heritage Health, Mendota.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 18 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Mary Bohall officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
Louise was born Sept. 14, 1923 in Paw Paw to Robert and Ada (Towne) Simpson. She married August Just in 1941. He was a U.S. Marine and was killed in action on the Island of Tinian in 1944. Together they had one son, August, born Oct. 20, 1942. Louise married Carlos A. Ambler on Sept. 14, 1945 in Chicago. Carlos was widowed and had a son, Carlos H. Ambler. Together, Carlos and Louise had a daughter, Pat who passed away in 1964 at the age of 17.
Survivors include her son, August V. (Margaret) Ambler of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister, Cindy Donna of Cherry; three grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; two children, Pat and Carlos; and 13 brothers and sisters.
Carlos and Louise farmed together their entire working years. Louise was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, gardener, bird lover and a wonderful cook. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Memorials may be directed to the family for donation to the nursing staff at Heritage Health, Mendota.
