SERENA – Ginger Lane (Nelson) Duffy, 75, of Serena, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Valley West Hospital in Sandwich, with her family by her side.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 2, from 4-7 p.m. at Ottawa Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 3, at St. Columba Church, with Msgr. Mark Merdian officiating. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery.

Ginger was born Oct. 13, 1948, in Sandwich, to Bob and Bunnie Nelson. She married John Duffy on Aug. 24, 1968, at St. Columba Church.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Duffy; her daughters, Trisha Duffy and Susan (Josh) McNelis; her grandchildren, Jenna (Ben) Temple, Riley McNelis, and Mason McNelis; her brother, Gerry (Gina) Nelson; her sister-in-law, Anne (Bill) Brignon; her brother-in-law, Terry (Karen) Duffy; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends she held dear to her heart as family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Bunnie Nelson; her mother- and father-in-law, John R. and Peg Duffy; and her brother-in-law, Wes Thompson.

Ginger retired from Caterpillar after many years. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, reading, sewing and crafting. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, John, and together they took many cruises. She spent countless happy hours with their Texas Whoop Group, and she never missed an opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jim Duffy, Riley McNelis, Mason McNelis, Ben Temple, David Butterfield, and Kent Butterfield.
