WALNUT – Ruth V. Molln, 96, passed away April 17, 2024, at Allure of Walnut.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024, at the First Lutheran Church of Ohio with Revs. Jeff and Lori Whalen officiating. Burial will be in Van Orin Repose Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of services. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.

Ruth was born Sept. 3, 1927, in Mendota, the daughter of Carl and Rena (Mann) Kerchner. She married Elwood Molln on Jan. 13, 1946, in Mendota. He preceded her in death Jan. 31, 2004.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Kerwin Paris) Purvis of LaMoille, Doris (John) Helm of St. Peters, Mo., and Arlen (Gaye) Molln of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Jackie Molln of Ohio; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Eldon Molln; granddaughter, Lynette Purvis; son-in-law, Roger Purvis; and twin great-granddaughters, Lucy and Lilly Galloway. Ruth was the fifth of eight children in her family and all of her siblings preceded her in death.

Ruth was a homemaker and she actively participated with Elwood in their livestock and grain farming operation. In addition to livestock, she had chickens and egg chores to tend to everyday. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Ohio.
