OCQUEOC, Mich. - Charlotte Gladys Ziebarth, 81, of Ocqueoc, Mich., formerly of Mendota, passed away Aug. 6, 2017 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor after complications following open-heart surgery.

OCQUEOC, Mich. - Charlotte Gladys Ziebarth, 81, of Ocqueoc, Mich., formerly of Mendota, passed away Aug. 6, 2017 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor after complications following open-heart surgery.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10 at St. James Lutheran Church, 2485 South Ward Branch Road, Rogers City, Mich. with a luncheon afterward. Pastor Jeffery Bonn will officiate. Charlotte’s final resting place will be at St. James Cemetery. Cremation arrangements were handled by the Chagnon Funeral Home, Onaway, Mich.

Charlotte was born Dec. 29, 1935 in Mendota to Earl and Elva (Florschuetz) Bauer. She married Lloyd F. Ziebarth on Feb. 12, 1956 and they were blessed with 61 years of marriage.

Survivors include her husband, Reverend Lloyd Ziebarth of Ocqueoc; four children, Rex Ziebarth of Lapeer, Mich., Rhonda (Pat) Madole of Grand Rapids, Mich., Brenda Ziebarth-Henson (Michael Henson) of Ocqueoc and Barry (Andrea) Ziebarth of Twin Lake, Mich.; five grandchildren, Rachel (Matthew) Waddell, Lauren Henson, Ellen Ziebarth, Zane Ziebarth and Kathryn Biehl; and one sister, Ruth Ann (Lyle) Niemeyer.

Charlotte attended elementary through high school in Mendota and completed her studies in accounting in Chicago. She was active in her church all her life including teaching Sunday school, singing in the church choir and serving as church secretary and church pianist. She loved reading, knitting and listening to and playing classical music. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and neighbor. The heart of her life was her family. Her kind, loving and gentle nature will truly be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
