PEORIA - Catherine “Katie” Julia Sondgeroth, 37, passed away unexpectedly at her residence in Peoria on Feb. 18, 2019.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 23 at Holy Cross Church, Mendota with Rev. Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Peterstown. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22 at Schwarz Funeral Home, Mendota.

Katie was born Feb. 19, 1981 in Peru to John and Pat (Joerger) Sondgeroth.

Survivors include her parents of Mendota; one brother, Andrew (Jill) Sondgeroth of Germantown Hills; her paternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Sondgeroth of Mendota; two nieces, Emma and Hannah Sondgeroth; two nephews, Ben and Will Sondgeroth; her beloved cat, Hemi; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Paul and Marge Joerger.

Katie attended Mendota schools and graduated from Mendota High School in 1999. She earned a degree in advertising from Bradley University in 2003. She was employed at Penn Corporation in human resources. She enjoyed photography. Some of her favorite activities were walking and spending time in nature and she absolutely loved the cold and snow. She was a volunteer for the area March of Dimes and for T.E.C. (Teens Encounter Christ), and she enjoyed helping her parents at the farmer’s market in Chicago. Katie will be greatly missed by all blessed to know her.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established in Katie’s name.
