MENDOTA- Carol L. Swope, 72, of Mendota passed away Aug. 27, 2017 in Alden Debes Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Rockford.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at the Merritt Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Foster officiating. Burial will be at Melugen Cemetery, Brooklyn Township at a later date. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Aug. 30 at the funeral home.
Carol was born June 29, 1945 in Mendota to Orley and Dolores (Eddy) Daw. She married Larry Swope on Aug. 7, 1965 in Compton.
Survivors include her husband of Mendota; three daughters, Deanna (Garry) Eaves, Dawn (Jim) Miers and Carissa (Ron) Kaufman, all of Mendota; one son, Terry (Nicole) Swope of Mendota; four grandchildren, Jessica Kaufman, Sean Kaufman, Brittney Kincaid and Addilyn Swope; five great grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Marianne) Daw of Eau Claire, Wis.; and one sister Rayanne (Chris) Sester of Compton.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1964, her mother in 2015 and a brother, Dennis in infancy.
Carol was a 1963 graduate of Mendota High School. She attended Zion United Methodist Church and loved taking care of her grandchildren.
