ROCHELLE – Mariyah Elam has been stellar all season for the Mendota High School girls’ track team, and she was again when it counted the most.

GENOA – Northbrook Middle School’s track team competed in the IESA Class 3A Sectional at Genoa-Kingston on May 10. Four of Northbrook’s student-athletes qualified for the IESA State Track Meet to be held May 17-18 in East Peoria.

OREGON – The Mendota girls’ soccer team had its season come to an end after a 5-1 loss to Aurora Central Catholic in the opening round of the Oregon Class 1A Regional on May 11 at Oregon.

MENDOTA – Mendota survived a late comeback by Oregon to post a 7-4 victory over the Hawks in the opening round of the Sterling Newman Class 2A Regional Baseball Tournament during a play-in game on May 13 at the MHS diamond.

OTTAWA – The Mendota Lady Trojans finished in third place out of eight teams in the Illinois Valley Track Invitational on May 6 at Ottawa.

MENDOTA – Morris blanked Mendota, 5-0, in varsity tennis action on May 8 at the Mendota courts.

Mendota got superb pitching and timely hitting to post a 5-1 win over Kewanee in a Three Rivers Conference varsity baseball contest on May 6 at the MHS field.

EDGINGTON – Bureau Valley took first-place honors in the Three Rivers Conference Boys’ Track & Field Meet held on May 10 at Rockridge High School in Edgington.

BYRON – The Mendota varsity softball team had its season come to a close after a 15-1 loss at Byron in a play-in game of the Oregon Class 2A Regional on May 13.

Mendota closed out the regular season softball campaign with two losses to Kewanee in Three Rivers Conference play.

EAST PEORIA – Holy Cross Catholic School in Mendota, Allen Junior High School in LaMoille, and Earlville Junior High all had plenty to celebrate after the conclusion of the IESA Class 1A State Meet on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 at EastSide Centre in East Peoria.

MENDOTA - Mendota hosted the Three Rivers Conference Girls’ Track & Field Meet on May 3.

Mendota’s boys’ tennis team split a triangular meet with Rockford Christian and Rockford Lutheran on April 30 at the MHS courts.

STERLING – The Mendota Trojans will compete in the Sterling Newman Class 2A Regional Baseball Tournament.

OREGON – The Mendota softball team has been assigned to the Oregon Class 2A Regional Softball Tournament to be played May 13, 14, 18.

Mendota’s boys’ track team went up against three other schools in the Ottawa Quad on April 30.

MENDOTA – The Mendota Lady Trojans closed out the regular soccer season with a 1-0 triumph over Dixon on May 1 at the MHS field.

MENDOTA - Ray Jauch has compiled a long list of accomplishments during his football playing and coaching careers. Now, long after those careers ended, perhaps the greatest accolade he could ever achieve has been bestowed upon him.

Mendota’s bats were held in check in a 4-0 loss to Sterling on May 1 at the MHS field.

SPRING VALLEY – Three Holy Cross School track athletes have earned a trip to the IESA State Track and Field Meet after participating in the sectional meet held in Spring Valley on May 4.

Ottawa struck for seven runs in the first inning en route to a 13-0 triumph over Mendota in a non-conference varsity softball game on April 30 at the MHS field.

SAVOY – Mendota’s boys’ and girls’ bowling teams competed in the Brian Hodge Memorial Tournament on Jan. 6 at Savoy.

It was a rough weekend for the Mendota varsity boys’ basketball team as it was beaten by area rivals Princeton and LaSalle-Peru.

MENDOTA – Mendota had trouble shooting the basketball and Bureau Valley did not, which resulted in a lopsided 59-17 win for the Storm in Three Rivers Conference varsity girls’ basketball action on Jan. 4 at the MHS gym.

Princeton used a strong fourth quarter to claim a 49-40 victory over Mendota in a Three Rivers Conference sophomore boys’ basketball game on Jan. 5 at the Mendota gym.
