MENDOTA - Theresa Marie Schmitto, 66, of Mendota passed away July 27, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 30 at the Wasmer Funeral Home, Mendota. Due to COVID-19 masks are required and social distancing is encouraged. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 31 at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Theresa was born April 29, 1954 in Madison, S.D. to Richard and Verna (Stayton) Coss. She married William Schmitto on Nov. 15, 1985. He preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Ricky (Connie) Falcon of Mendota, Danny Falcon of LaMoille and Charlie (Katie) Manz of Mendota; six grandchildren, Kayla Woods, Buddy Falcon, Madison Falcon, Kelly Falcon, Cody Falcon, and Valerie Manz; six great-grandchildren; a special niece, Becky (D.J.) Boatman of Mendota, and several nieces and nephews; and two sisters, Margaret Rosales of Mendota and Sheila (Bob) Arteaga of Mendota.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, “Little” Larry Falcon on Nov. 14, 1977; two brothers, Jack Coss and Gary Coss; one sister, Betty Barrera; and her parents.
Theresa enjoyed the simple life - she was a dedicated and loving mother and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She didn’t need possessions or the like to get by, but a vacation with her sisters would always do the trick. Her table was always open for honest conversation or to teach a hard lesson, and her famous lasagna was always the first dish to run out at family functions.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
