LA SALLE - Ruthie Mae Harris, 75, of LaSalle passed away Dec. 9, 2018 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15 at United Pentecostal Church, Princeton with Rev. Ron Townsley and her grandson, Rev. Caleb Hollingsworth co-officiating. Burial will follow at St. Hyacinth Cemetery, LaSalle. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14 at the church. The family is being assisted by Schwarz Funeral Home, Mendota.
Ruthie was born Sept. 28, 1943 in Kennett, Mo. to Daniel Edgar and Ruthie M. (Marler) Robertson. She married James Harris on July 6, 1960 in Kennett, Mo.
Survivors include her husband of LaSalle; one daughter, Virginia (James) Hollingsworth of LaSalle; four sons, James Cecil (Deanna) Harris of Ladd, Terry (Sheryl) Harris of Malden, Nathan (Sonia Chavez) Harris of Holiday, Fla. and Gregory (Dennis Jones) Harris of Clearwater, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; three brothers, Gary (Gretchen) Robertson of LaSalle, Don (Kaye) Robertson of Rector, Ark. and Paul Robertson of Hardy, Ark.; and one sister, Marcia Robertson of Wall Lake, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters and one grandson, Jaren Hollingsworth.
During her work career, she was a retail merchandiser for the Hallmark Corporation. She was an integral member of the United Pentecostal Church community. She taught Sunday school for over 30 years, was director of the children’s choir, was youth director, and was part of the Ladies Church Auxiliary.
