MENDOTA - Michael Sherwood Abel, 37, of Mendota died May 21, 2017 in a tragic car accident in Troy Grove Township.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling the arrangements.
Michael was born May 12, 1980 in Peru to Steve and Kim (Turnbull) Abel.
Survivors include his daughter, Gianna Abel; his fiancée, Kilian Keene; his parents; one sister, Stephanie; maternal grandparents, Bill and Janet Turnbull and Ruby Turnbull; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Maxine and Sherwood Abel and his amazing Aunt Helen.
Mike graduated from Mendota High School in 1998. He deeply loved his daughter, Gianna, who he called the love of his life and his fiancée, a wonderful, loving and supportive partner in life. He was deeply connected to a great group of friends and his god daughters, Eliza and Jaz and his godson, Quentin.
Memorials may be directed to Kim and Steve Abel for the establishment of his daughter’s education fund.
