MENDOTA – Final plans are in place for this year’s 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks, which will be held at Lake Mendota sponsored by the Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce.
The schedule of events has been announced with activities set to begin at 5 p.m. when the gates open. All cars will enter Lake Mendota Park at the main entrance off of 14th Ave. (shown on the map). All other entrances will be closed for safety and traffic flow; the lake will not be accessible prior to 5 p.m. Admission to the fireworks is free.
Parking will be available around the lake, in the civic center parking lot and between the baseball and softball fields. Accessible parking will be located near the concession stand on the north side of the lake.
Activities and food vendors will be set up on the north side of the lake near the soccer fields. The Lions Club will be on hand serving their famous corn dogs and the Optimist Club will have their grill ready with plenty of hot dogs, hamburgers and pork chop sandwiches as well as lemon shake-ups.
Concession stands will also be open serving candy, popcorn and refreshments along with 3D glasses and other glow merchandise.
Kid’s activities will include bouncy houses, Touch a Tractor provided by Holland and Sons, and Bombshell Photo Booth. To liven up the party, Diligent DJ Service will be playing music during the event.
Following the fireworks, all of the park exits will be re-opened for cars to leave and the Mendota Police Department will be present to help direct traffic safely out of the park.
