PALM BAY, Fla. - Marvin Novak, 74, of Palm Bay, Fla. died Aug. 18, 2018 at Hospice Center in Palm Bay of MDS.

Funeral Mass was held on Aug. 25 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Indialantic, Fla. A Celebration of Life will take place from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Knights of Columbus (downstairs), 209 Gooding St., LaSalle for relatives, friends and former classmates.

Marvin “Marty” was born Jan. 31, 1944 in Mendota to Marvin A. and Ruth (Gesslein) Novak. He married Connie (Yohn) Koehler on May 31, 1981 at Starved Rock and they renewed their vows on July 18, 1987 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in South Burlington, Vt.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; three daughters, Shelly Novak, Holli (Dave Bolio) Novak and Julie Koehler; three sons, Scott Novak, Bradley (Dr. Amy Trubek) Koehler and Todd (Michele Bustos) Koehler; a step-daughter, Colleen Stormer; nine grandchildren, Kyle Koehler, Meshae (Armin) Stojanavic, Dylan Bolio, Cassandra Flusser, Katherine Koehler, Emily Bolio, Aaron Koehler, Noah Koehler, Emma Koehler; three great-grandchildren, Alecktra Stojanavic, Makayla Koehler and Azalea Koehler; his step-mother, Donna (Chandler) Novak; three sisters, Susan (Luke) Doyle, Debbie (Paul) Michalski and Lisa Novak; one brother, Steve (Sue) Novak; and a special uncle and aunt, Leonard and Shirley Novak.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Leonard and Ruth (Weiler) Novak; and his maternal grandparents, George and Lucy (Hall) Gesslein.

Marty was a 1962 graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School and a 1994 graduate of Trinity College in Vermont. He was an Illinois high school and college football referee, a junior high basketball referee and a high school and college girls umpire. He retired as a plant engineer from Michael Foods in Pennsylvania.
