WEST BROOKLYN - Joseph “Joe” Widolff, 90, of West Brooklyn died Feb. 14, 2019 at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at St. Mary Catholic Church in West Brooklyn with Rev. Randy Fronek officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, West Brooklyn. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with a scripture service at 3:30 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Joe was born Oct. 16, 1928 in Mendota to Albert and Mary Gertrude (Jones) Widolff. He married Carol Mann on Nov. 26, 1955 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mendota.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Diane (James) Devine of Dixon, Michael (Janet) Widolff of West Brooklyn, Lois (Brian) Donovan of Winter Haven, Fla., Randy (Shelley Mink) Widolff of West Brooklyn and Steven (Paula) Widolff of Amboy; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, William (Betty) Widolff of Rock Falls; and one sister, Esther Brechon of Dixon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Eleanor Van Hoose.
Joe was a life long farmer and rancher in the West Brooklyn area and had also been a seed corn dealer for 20 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in West Brooklyn, Lee County Farm Bureau, Brooklyn/Compton American Legion Post 657 and Mendota VFW Post 4079. He was and avid fox and raccoon hunter.
