PAW PAW - Harold “Ikey” Ikeler, 85, of Paw Paw, passed away Jan. 17, 2018 at Maple Crossing of Amboy.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 5 at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church with Pastor Dave Holden officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Wyoming Township Cemetery with military rites provided by the U.S. Army and Smith-Reynolds American Legion Post 511.
Harold was born June 7, 1932 in Earlville to Earl and Mabel (Ulin) Ikeler. He married Virginia Eich. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1993.
Survivors include one son, Randy (Neva) Ikeler of Paw Paw; two daughters, Denise (Dennis) Dirksen of Goshen, Ky. and Holli (Eric) Petersen of Waterman; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, David Larabee.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter, Deborah Larabee; his parents; and one brother, Delbert Ikeler.
Harold proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He was a member of the Paw Paw Fire Department for 50 years, serving as trustee for 20 years before retiring. He was a proud member and past commander of the Smith-Reynolds American Legion Post 511.
