MENDOTA - Elden J. “Jack” Miller, 91, of Mendota, formerly of Aurora, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Mendota Lutheran Home on Oct. 18, 2017.
Elden was born on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 1925 in Gillett, Wis. to John N. Miller and Wanda P. Elbe. He married Verdell Bowman on May 31, 1947 in Aurora.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Verdell; one sister, Ruth Miller; two sons, Wayne Miller and Glenn Miller; and four grandchildren, Ryan Miller, Tyler Miller, Tiffany Aska and Taylor Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harold, Mike and Robert; and two sisters, Kate and Dorothy.
Elden’s family moved from Wisconsin to Aurora in his youth. He served in the National Guard for six years from 1944 to 1950 and ended with the rank of Corporal. He was employed as a truck driver for the majority of his working career and was a member of Teamsters Locals 423 and 722 for 34 years. He worked very hard and was very meticulous about his work. He always tried to do the job the best he could no matter what he was doing. He was a great provider for his family and was a great father, always making time for family celebrations, camping and wonderful vacation trips.
He will truly be missed.
