MENDOTA - Earl G. Kleckner, 83, of Mendota passed away Jan. 13, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Bowman Hospice Center at Rush University Health Center, Chicago.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at the Schwarz Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Tim Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery, Mendota.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Kim Corrigan; Mike Dalton; Brad, Christian, Gavin and Patrick Kleckner; Courtney and Kyle Thompson; and Jared and Nick Wise.
Earl was born June 1, 1934 in Waltham Township to Harold and Edith (Edgcomb) Kleckner. He married Loretta Kallner on June 29, 1954 at St. Hyacinth’s Church, LaSalle. She preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 2006.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn (Marcia) Kleckner of Mendota and Greg (Karen) Kleckner of Buffalo Grove; three daughters, Cheryl (Dennis) Dalton, Cindy (George) Thompson and Jo (Mark) Wise, all of Mendota; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a child in infancy; and four brothers, Lester Kleckner, Howard Kleckner, Ken Kleckner and Otto Kleckner.
Earl worked at Conkey’s, now Spartan Tool, in the set-up department for 37 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Mendota Moose Lodge, and loved watching WWF Now with his grandsons. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
