DE KALB - Doris I. Skelley, 88, passed away Aug. 30, 2018 at Pine Acres Care Center in DeKalb.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Pastor Wayne Derber officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Leland Cemetery.
Doris was born Oct. 14, 1929 in Victor Township to Enoch and Hattie (Kittleson) Olson. She married LaVerne Harger in 1951. He preceded her in death in 1975. She married Clifford Skelley, and he preceded her in death in 1988 after 12 years of marriage. She then shared over 20 years with her special companion, Glen “Bud” Maloy; his daughter, Susan (Charles) Kaminky; his son, Glen (Shirley) Maloy; and their children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Jane (Mike) Termini of Elgin and Nancy (Al) Perry of Rockford; one granddaughter, Molly Termini of Milwaukee, Wis.; one sister, Lois Jean (Forester) DuSell of Geneva; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands and two brothers, Wesley and Kenneth.
Doris was a graduate of Leland High School and Copley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Her chosen profession of nursing was reflective of her nature to always care for others. She was a loving mother, grandmother and loyal friend.
