MENDOTA - Carole L. Schillinger, 82, of Mendota passed away Oct. 4, 2019 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10 at First United Methodist Church, Mendota with Rev. Mary Bohall officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the funeral and burial will be private at Restland Cemetery, Mendota at a later date. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Carole was born Jan. 26, 1937 in Plainfield to Mervin and Verdell (Fairweather) Auld. She married James “Jim” Schillinger on Aug. 25, 1956 in Naperville.
Survivors include her husband of Mendota; three daughters, Kim (Clayton) Chilvers of Oswego, Dawn (Mark) Dieter of Ottawa and Kathy Vogt of Mendota; one son, Jeff Schillinger of Earlville; four grandchildren, Matt (Crystal) Dieter, Kyle Dieter, Paul Schillinger and Elizabeth Schillinger; a great-granddaughter, Emma Dieter; and five sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Catherine Schillinger.
Carole farmed with her husband for over 50 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and reading.
