Area students graduate from NIU

DeKALB – Over 2,200 students received their degrees from Northern Illinois University in May. Included among the graduates were:

Landon Larkin of Earlville, Bachelor of Science, Finance; Lizandra Hernandez of Mendota, Bachelor of Science, Health Sciences: General; Kevin Lewis of Mendota, Bachelor of Science, Mechatronics Engineering; Cassandra Stoval of Troy Grove, Master of Science, Data Analytics.

Area students named to IWU Dean’s List

BLOOMINGTON – Devyn Kennedy of Earlville and Mallory Powers of Amboy were named to the Dean's List for the spring semester of the 2023-24 academic year at Illinois Wesleyan University. Kennedy is a senior majoring in Nursing and Powers is a senior majoring in Kinesiology and Allied Health.

They were among 760 students from 29 states and 29 countries named to the Spring 2024 Dean's List.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a GPA of 3.50 or better during the semester, based on 4.0 for straight As.

Founded in 1850, Illinois Wesleyan is a nationally recognized, highly selective liberal arts university.

Iowa State names Dean’s List students

AMES, Iowa – More than 10,600 Iowa State University students have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the spring semester 2024 Dean's List. Students named to the Dean's List must earn a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work.

Area students achieving the honor are Lisa Tordai of Earlville, a senior software engineering major, and Jack Beetz of Mendota, a senior agricultural studies major.

M. Phalen graduates from Western Tech

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Morgan Phalen of Mendota graduated from Western Technical College from the Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Phalen is one of 712 graduates to receive an associate's degree or technical diploma in the 2024 Spring Term.

M. Harness on Bradley U. Dean’s List

PEORIA – Meghann Harness of Earlville was among more than 1,700 students named to the Bradley University Dean's List for Spring 2024. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a full-time student must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester on a 4.0 scale.

Bradley University is a top-ranked, private university in Peoria, offering nearly 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students opportunities, choices, and resources to build their futures.

E. Buettner named to Marquette Dean’s List

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., has named its Dean’s List students for the spring 2024 semester. Among the students achieving the honor is Elly Buettner of Mendota, an accounting major.

To make the Dean's List, students must have earned at least 12 credits for the spring 2024 semester and have no disqualifying grades. The GPA threshold varies by college - for the College of Education and the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, undergraduate students must have at least a 3.7 to be named to the Dean's List. The undergraduate GPA requirement is 3.5 for the following colleges: the Diederich College of Communication, the College of Business Administration, the College of Health Sciences, the Opus College of Engineering and the College of Nursing. All other programs have a 3.75 GPA minimum.

Marquette University is a Catholic, Jesuit university that draws over 7,600 undergraduate and 3,700 graduate and professional students from nearly all states and more than 60 countries.

Mendotan earns Masters from Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – In May, more than 6,500 University of Iowa undergraduate, graduate, and professional students received their degrees, a group that included Curt Fitzgerald of Mendota.

Fitzgerald was a student in the Graduate College whose academic program of study was Electrical and Computer Engineering. The degree awarded Fitzgerald was a Master of Science.

Like Fitzgerald, the 2024 spring semester graduates have engaged, excelled, and stretched to reach their academic goals.
