MENDOTA - OSF HealthCare Saint Paul Medical Center has proudly introduced their newest addition to the Healing Paws team. Her name is “Precious” and she will lift the spirits of anyone she meets.

A 4-year old Saint Bernard, Precious is an AKC Champion show dog who is also CGC “Canine Good Citizen” certified and is a certified therapy dog through Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Behind her funny face, Precious is very gentle around people. For fun, she enjoys playing tag, tearing her toys apart, showing off in the show ring and training for her obedience work.

Specially trained therapy dogs and their owners will visit the hospital to bring comfort to patients, reduce stress, anxiety, pain, blood pressure, while increasing patient social interaction and communication.

A visit from one of these therapy dogs can make a patient’s day. “I have seen the delight that our dogs bring to our patients,” OSF Saint Paul Medical Center President Jennifer Junis commented.
